Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is the twenty-ninth game played by Jon and Arin on Game Grumps.

Playthrough[]

Jon and Arin play the game on TWO Player Team mode, as Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong, respectively (although they have moments were they play as the other's character).

They play the game without searching for secrets or visiting Monkey Museum, Funky's Flights II and Swanky's Bonus Bonanza; only stopping at Kong Kollege to save the game. They finish all levels from Gangplank Galleon's Pirate Panic to Gloomy Gulch's Haunted Hall, losing all lives and quitting at Gusty Glade.

Game information[]

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (abbreviated to DKC2) is a 1995 adventure platform game developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (otherwise known as the "SNES") produced by Rareware and published by Nintendo - with Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong starring as the main characters of the game. Donkey Kong Country 2 was first released on November 20, 1995 in North America. Donkey Kong Country 2 is a sequel to the original Donkey Kong Country (1994) which was later followed by Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (1996). DKC2 was later also released on the Game Boy Advance in 2004 and was until recently available for download on the Wii's Virtual Console, having become one of the most popular games of its age.

The game begins soon after Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by the prime antagonist Kaptain K. Rool, leaving Diddy and his girlfriend Dixie to rescue him. Together, the two travel to various and distinct parts of Crocodile Isle where the game is set on which there are varying worlds totalling in eight unique environments. Markedly improved from its predecessor, DKC2 was praised for having excellent graphics, plot and characterisation and as a result DKC2 has received much critical and commercial praise, having sold millions of copies worldwide on the SNES, making it the second best selling game of 1995 and the sixth best-selling game on the platform overall.

Trivia[]

  • The Grumps claimed that this game broke them pretty hard. Despite this, Arin or Jon have yet to have a serious flip out, with most of their frustration coming from their poor understanding of the controls.
  • The Grumps have been critisized for skipping Swanky's Bonus Bonanza throughout the whole playthrough (which would have given them the Extra Life Balloons they needed) and for providing unfounded negative criticism on the game's design, controls and physics.
