The Middle Slot was the collective name given to the shows that share the 12 p.m. upload time slot on the Game Grumps channel. The shows featured different combinations of all of the members of Game Grumps, as well as guests. True to its name, these episodes were uploaded exactly two hours apart from the daily Game Grumps or Game Grumps VS episodes.
History[]
The first Middle Slot show introduced on the Game Grumps channel was Steam Train. The show originally featured only Ross and Danny, but was later changed to include Arin occasionally as well.
Steam Rolled was the next show to be introduced in the middle time slot. With the new show, editor Barry and Arin's wife Suzy were introduced as hosts on the channel.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of Steam Train, Barry and Suzy joined the rotating cast of Steam Train as well.
Early in 2015, the Game Grumps introduced Grumpcade, a show virtually the same as Steam Train, except for that the hosts played console games instead of computer games. Grumpcade also introduced guests into the middle slot. Steam Train would later begin to feature guests in 2016.
In early 2017, the Grumps made an effort to overhaul the middle slot with different, more involved shows and solo playthroughs, which led to Steam Train and Grumpcade being put on hiatus.[1][2] Grumpcade returned a few months later, but uploads are now more sporadic and mixed with Game Grumps Animated and Doodle Doods uploads.
With the newest upload schedule that is now focused on just the core Game Grumps/Game Grumps VS videos, Game Grumps Animated and Game Grumps Compilations (with one episode per day), and formerly, 10 Minute Power Hour and Good Content, the middle slot was removed entirely in November 2019.[3][4]

Trivia[]
- Fans have speculated that the reason the middle slot uploads were halted was due to a change in Youtube's video recommendation algorithms, which were altered to prioritize audience retention over simple video views. This meant that due to lower view counts on Steam Train and Grumpcade videos, the Grumps were having less of their videos appear on Youtube's recommended feed than if they hadn't uploaded those videos in the first place. Barry has confirmed in a livestream Q&A that this was part of the reason for overhauling the middle slot.
