The PlayStation (PS) is the first home video game console released by Sony.
History[]
Sony released the PlayStation in Japan December 3, 1994, North America on September 9, 1995, Europe on September 29, 1995, and Australia on November 15, 1995, as their first video game console. Its biggest competitor was the Nintendo 64.
The PlayStation was succeeded in 2000 by the PlayStation 2, and was discontinued over eleven years after its launch in 2006.
