Game information[edit | edit source]

Snowboard Kids 2 is a snowboarding video game developed by Racdym and published by Atlus. But unlike the first game, it was not released in Europe. However, a PAL version still exists, and that was given for an Australian release.

The gameplay of this game is similar to its predecessor's, yet very different.

There are now three distinct playing modes: the Story mode, which follows the game plot and uses the classical system of cash prizes by winning the races and incorporates the Skill Games; the Battle mode, which includes multiplayer mode; and the lessons, which return as the Training mode. Game preferences for Battle mode can be changed in the game Options, and all tracks now have 3 laps (in the previous game, Big Snowman had 2, Rookie Mt. had 5, and Ninja Land had 9).

All characters were redesigned and now have three different costumes to add up to the standard winter costume. There are four new characters, as Wendy is added as a starter and Damien, Coach and Mr. Dog are unlockable. Shinobin doesn't return in this game. The All-Around, Freestyle and Alpine boards were renamed Balanced, Trick and Speed Boards. The Special boards also appear, adding up six new boards with different effects to the original three.

New additions and changes were made to the Items and Shots as well. All of them were redesigned and the Shots were renamed as Weapons. Additions include the Rocket, the Wings and the Whirlwind (see more below. Other changes to the Items and Weapons include the reduction in the freeze time when a character is hit by the Freezing Shot, and the new effect of losing coins when hit by a Slapstick.

The special tricks (which were different for each character and required the player to perform a combo) were replaced by the ability of doing multiple tricks while in the air. Also new was the ability to repel Weapon attacks by performing a Trick or Board Grab in the imminence of the hit. The player can also look behind by pressing the R button.
